The title of my post refers to an inside joke that my mom and I share. One day I was fixing dinner while on the phone with my mom and my eldest asked what we were having; I replied chicken. And then he says, "Chicken everyday!" My mother bust out laughing on the phone and now whenever she asks me what we're having for dinner and I say chicken she responds with, "chicken everyday".
I would love to mix it up in the kitchen, but it seems that the one thing my kids will eat with consistency is chicken. So we have chicken nuggets (regular and dinosaur), chicken breasts, drumsticks, chicken wings, if it's a chicken dish I believe that I've made it. It is so difficult getting (my) kids to eat something different and when I try I invariably get "I ownt want it" - the baby or "I don't like it" - the big boy.
Also, my kids are obviously aliens because they do not like the commonly accepted kids foods...mac n' cheese - no dice; spaghetti-o-s - uh uh; PB&J - baby's allergic and big boy either wants a PB sandwich or a J sandwich! Sometimes I feel like I'm at my wits end, so what have I resorted to???? KID CUISINEs!!! They will usually eat most of that, although sometimes I get push back on the corn - what kid doesn't like corn? Obviously mine!
Now, for the first 2 & a half years of the big boys life and the first year of the baby's we ate mostly organic foods and wholesome foods and now it's Kid Cuisine heaven in my house. I feel bad about it sometimes, but I just want them to EAT, so I get over it. But I am still on the hunt for that elusive no-fail kid approved meal that they will eat, so we don't have to have "chicken everyday"!
