What I Bought...

I got myself some wonderful fabric from Bloomerie in a fab grey and yellow color scheme, with wondrous love birds on it, as well as a cheeky grey/white “egg” themed fabric.  What will I make of it you ask?  Why, throw pillows of course!!!

I also bought a KICK AZZ, mid century modern bedroom set from a lovely older couple, that had no idea what a great piece they had, so I was able to get a dresser w/ mirror and two nightstands for a mere $280!  I will post pics when it’s all set up in my new place, right now it’s in my current dining room waiting to be ushered away to its new home!

October is Attachment Parenting Month!!!

October is a great month for many reasons: my birthday, the bambino’s birthday, Halloween and of course…ATTACHMENT PARENTING MONTH!!

This year’s theme for Attachment Parenting Month is "Full of Love: parenting to meet the emotional and physical needs of children".  API is drawing from API’s Principles and new research to focus on childhood obesity prevention and overall health promotion through secure attachments.

In honor of this year's Attachment Parenting Month theme, I will be doing a giveaway later this month, so STAY TUNED!!!

API is also hosting a blog carnival for AP Month.  To participate in the carnival, submit a post on one or more of the following topics as we celebrate emotional and physical health:
  • For parents who have struggled/are struggling to make healthier nutritional and/or activity changes, what has been the impact on the children?  The whole family? (May be better or worse than desired or in flux)
  • For parents who may be the epitome of physical health, yet have children who regularly make different, less healthy choices, how do you resolve the challenges?
  • Families whose children are regularly exposed to unhealthy options, how did/do you work through this situation?
  • Ways we’ve uniquely accommodated and/or resolved common food and activity emotional hot buttons. (Do you have an automatic impulse to make your child clean her/his plate? What do you do?  How do you handle deserts? Vegetables? Do you require numbers of bites until finished? )
To participate, simply publish a post on one of the previous topics to your blog with the following text (including hyperlinks):

This post is part of the Attachment Parenting Month blog carnival, hosted by Attachment Parenting International. Learn more about how you can keep your children “Full of Love” by visiting API Speaks, the blog of Attachment Parenting International.

Once your post is completed, please send a note via the API Speaks Contact Form with the link to your blog post as well as a short message that the post is part of the AP Month 2010 blog carnival. Submissions will be accepted until Wednesday, October 13 at noon PT.

I am moving with my two lovely little boys from a bustling urban enclave off of Washington, DC to a small town in the Shenandoa Valley in Virginia.  I am making a career change as well as other changes in my life, big and small.  The town I'm moving to has lovely historic homes, 1930's cottages, 1940;'s bungalows... just a lovely community.  I will not be buying right now, but if things go well this might be my "forever home".  It's a great place to raise a family and I want to live somewhere safe and with good schools for my little ones.

But the most exciting part is.... REDECORATING!!

Let's look at some inspiration, shall we?
