Mother's Affection = Better Well Being...

Something those of us who practice Attachment Parenting already know:

Babies whose mothers are attentive and caring tend to grow into happy, well-adjusted children. But the psychological benefits of having a doting mother may extend well beyond childhood, a new study suggests.
According to the study, which followed nearly 500 infants into their 30s, babies who receive above-average levels of affection and attention from their mothers are less likely than other babies to grow up to be emotionally distressed, anxious, or hostile adults.

Kitchen Designer Came...

Can you tell I’m excited???  The Kitchen Designer is came yesterday and I am amped.  Our home renovation is supposed to be completed by Aug. 19th and we are really eager to be back in our home, not so eager for the monstrous job of unpacking, though.  Because of my new job and the fact that I’ve already taken off twice to take care of my sick baby; I won’t be there, but I’m leaving my husband with detailed questions to ask and features I want.  My inspiration for our kitchen cabinets is Sherry & John’s kitchen, from YHL & YES I AM BITING, LOL!

In other news:

I found the best blog today:  Pepper Design Blog

I think I want to recover my dining room chairs in Alexander Henry Fulham Road Como Lavender fabric because with my new wall color I’ve really been thinking about leaning to purples and lilacs as room accent colors.  But I’m also thinking about using an oilcloth fabric for recovering them because of my two little munchkins.  One seat has had its share of Chik-fil-A Polynesian sauce dropped on it and oilcloth would be great to wipe off.  In oilcloth I like Trumpet Flower by Amy Butler.

Reading, 'Riting, and 'Rithmetic

Hello Monday!

This week we are going to do the Dolch Words lesson plan for last week, since I slacked before.  I've also decided that I am going to hold off on starting the Primary words for at least two weeks.  I would like to use that time to do more reading of books and identifying the words he has learned so far.  This week I will alsoa word book with all 40 words from the pre-primer.

In other learning news, the big boy is doing really well with his handwriting.  His school uses the Handwriting Without Tears program and he's doing really well.  He can spell his first name by himself and he has finally gotten the hang of making the letter S, that was the most challenging for him.  Also, my husband has been working with him on addition and subtraction and he's really taken well to that.  So I guess we're doing the three Rs! *wink*

YAY ME!!!!

I bought 5 gallons of Glidden's Gentle Tide this weekend and we meet with the contractor this week.  I'm so psyched to finally be getting some things done.

This week we have only done our Dolch word cards once!  I don’t know if it’s the upcoming holidays or what, but we’ve been in total slack mode.  So, instead of putting pressure on myself or the boy, this week we’re going to count as a vacation week.  I mean we’ve already learned most of the words for pre-schoolers, I think we deserve a break.   We will pick-up where we left off on July 6th.  In the meantime we’ll just continue doing what we were doing and that’s having fun!
